I come from a family of very talented people, both maternal and paternal. We consist of visual artists, musicians, vocalists, dancers, and writers. With each brush stroke I celebrate my mom, Betty J. Robinson-Burton, who is a visual artist and clothes designer/tailor.
We often hear that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. However, even when beauty is beheld it comes with conditions. It’s either thin, muscular, curvy, petite, or tall to fit another person’s liking.
I went on my weekly walk with my friend, Tammy, and shared with her that I felt I had ruined my painting. I had been told that the original outlay was beautiful. Now, I was feeling guilty that I may have lost my foremothers’ message forever.
